Damaraland
Spitzkoppe, Brandberg, Twyfelfontein, Palmwag
It is sad that many locals are yet to see this part of Namibia, but if you have not heard yet, there is an ongoing debate about Damaraland being the most beautiful area in Namibia. It is for this purpose that team Lyata Namibia made it a top priority on their travel list. The team took a week long trip around the regions of Kunene and Erongo to see what really pulls tourists to this areas, and here is an account of our experience
Spitzkoppe
The Spitzkoppe is a group of bald granite peaks or inselbergs located between Usakos and Swakopmund in the Namib desert of Namibia. The granite is more than 120 million years old and the highest outcrop rises about 1,728 metres above sea level. The peaks stand out dramatically from the flat surrounding plains. The highest peak is about 670 m above the floor of the desert below. A minor peak – the Little Spitzkoppe – lies nearby at an elevation of 1,584 m. Other prominences stretch out into a range known as the Pontok Mountains.
This site offers some breathtaking scenery.

Below is a slide of what will live in our hearts as a historical tour.
Brandberg
Brandberg Mountain is located in former Damaraland, now Erongo, in the northwestern Namib Desert, near the coast, and covers an area of approximately 650 km². With its highest point, the Königstein (German for 'King's Stone'), standing at 2,573 m above sea level, on a clear day 'The Brandberg' can be seen from a great distance.
The Brandberg is a spiritual site of great significance to the San (Bushman) tribes. The main tourist attraction is The White Lady rock painting, located on a rock face with other art work, under a small rock overhang. There are more than 1 000 rock shelters, as well as more than 45 000 rock paintings.
To reach The White Lady you have to hike for about 40 minutes over rough terrain, through the mountain.

We took a tour and here are some of the pictures.
Palmwag
Palmwag is a nature reserve in northern Namibia. It is located in the Kunene region, in northwestern Damaraland, halfway between Swakopmund and Etosha National Park. This site is a vacation opportunity with a difference and it covers an area of 400,000 hectares. The area is home to large populations of Mountain Zebra, giraffe, oryx, springbok and kudu. The predator population is the largest outside of the Etosha National Park, with over 100 lions, cheetah, leopard, brown and spotted hyena.
Team Lyata Namibia spent a weekend at this paradise, and captured some of the greatest moments.
